My name is Josh Lux and I'm from Lincoln, Nebraska USA.
I first heard about this forum on tsu, where I have been active for about 1 month. I came to tsu looking for like minded individuals who are open to ideas about spiritual awakening and a change from a system that beats people down both literally and metaphorically. The same reasoning is what led me to this forum.
I work in human services and specialize in the support of individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder. I have been doing this for about 6 years but the 3 years prior to that I worked as a Habilitation specialist helping to teach social skills to kids with behavioral disorders that had been removed from their families by the state.
I was raised in a Methodist Christian family and my father and grandfather were Methodist ministers. This was not a bad experience for me but I do not identify as christian even though I view Jesus as a great teacher who's teachings have been misused over the centuries for nefarious and destructive means. I was lucky to have parents that encouraged me to learn about all religion and spirituality and did not force me to conform to a specific dogma. I have always felt a strong spiritual connection to the earth, animals (especially dogs), and other people. This has resulted in both suffering and joy as troubled people are strongly drawn to me and I to them. In that aspect I consider myself a healer although I have no formal training from a spiritual master, guru, etc... My formal training is in relationship building, psychology, social science, and philosophy.
I hope this covers everything for a proper introduction and feel free to ask if there is anything else you would like to know as I am happy and willing to share.
My user name on tsu is dlux32 so if anyone on the forum is not already my friend, please feel free to add me.
Thank you for providing this place of healing and acceptance and I look forward to hearing from you in the future both here and on tsu
